since
1991, CGBC has moved to our current address in
New York. We provide tapes for borrowing at our
center. After we have published our Gospel Tracts,
volunteers from different churches distribute
them every month. God has prepared this center
for us so we can reach the people in the city.
TRACT
DISTRIBUTION
Many
Chinese in New York work 7 days a week in stores,
factories, or restaurants. They only have one
day off per year during either Thanksgiving or
Chinese New Year. Attending church seems to be
a privilege or social activity to them. We need
to pray fervently for their salvation.
Tract-distribution
Report from Juanita But
Bearing
the vision of preaching the gospel to the Chinese
around the world, we follow the scriptural pattern
laid out for evangelism 'Beginning at Jerusalem."
New York Chinatown is our own Jerusalem where
we find not only Chinese but people from different
parts of the world. At the beginning of 1999,
when our tract distribution ministry in started
Chinatown, our team was praying for the Lord to
provide gospel tracts that could speak to and
touch the hearts of the Chinese. The Lord answered
our prayers by bringing us to work with CGBC.
Now thousands are reached every month through
the gospel tracts from CGBC. The designs of the
tracts are especially appealing to the young as
well a s
the old. Quite often, people would stop and ask
us for more. We also thank God for the tremendous
joy we feel when we see some of them come to Christ
in the midst of our out reach effort. For instance,
a man who works in a tofu store gave his life
to Jesus when we witnessed to him about the Prince
of Peace through the gospel tract "Peace Express."
We thank God for giving us the privilege to serve
Him in Chinatown. Please pray for the unsaved
to come to Jesus.
VOLUNTEERS
NEEDED
If it were not for God's love, would you be willing
to go out in the bitter cold weather to tell others
that Jesus loves them? We thank God that He blesses
us each time we distribute the tracts. We pray
that this year every church will promote this
ministry. Please contact www.cgbc.net
or FAX (212) 925-2690 to order tracts.
GRAMENT
FATCTORY MINSTRY
In
the 80s, there were several hundred garment factories
in Manhattan, and in the 90s; various reasons
resulted in these factories being moved to Brooklyn
in the 8th Ave. and 3rd Ave. areas for the lower
rents. Through teaching English, CGBC co-workers
can enter a factory and befriend their workers.
This semester, Christine and Jessica continue
to teach English on weekends and they are encouraged
when they see the good response of new immigrants
to the Gospel. A young mother
|
who
was a new believer was willing to work part time,
instead of full time, in order to attend English
classes, and she is looking for a bible study
group to attend.
In
fact, follow-up work and discipleship training
is more difficult than evangelizing. Last year,
several workers were willing to study the Bible
and accepted the Lord, but were unable to find
a church. They could only get help from cassette
tapes and our prayers. Last Christmas, Gilead
Fellowship of Oversea Chinese Mission church shared
the Good News " The Birth of Jesus" to the workers
in factory. This ministry needs the support from
churches, especially pastoral staff to care for
these workers. Please contact Susan Lu at
SUSAN@CGBC.ORG.
EXPANSION OF THE DUPLICATION DEPARTMENT
We
thank God for providing us with more co-workers
to expand our Duplication Dept. Last year, God
moved a couple from the Chinese Christian Church
(CCC) of Greater Washington DC to be involved
with this ministry. After praying, they received
confirmation from God, and CCC Mission Dept's
decision to send them off. They received training
at our NY center earlier this year. Their church
will commission them in March (Detailed report
in next issue).
MARCH
GOOD NEWS
A
new staff member joined CGBC- Canada. From last
November to this February, USA and Canada CGBC
have united in praying for God's direction for
the ministry for 2001. USA CGBC seeks God's grace
in our ministry strategies. Please pray for the
establishment of "CGBC International Board". "Concerning
things to come, do you question me about my children,
or give me orders about the work of my hands?"
~ Isaiah 45:11 We deeply believe God will establish
His work and complete it in His time. To God be
the Glory. May God keep His co-workers faithful
in proclaiming the Gospel.
